Details surrounding Anthony Barr’s contract with Vikings

Earlier on Tuesday, linebacker Anthony Barr had second thoughts on signing with the Jets and decided to return to the Vikings.

Free agency is fun!

The four-time linebacker is going to get paid. Per Ian Rapoport, Barr will receive a five-year deal with $67.5 million with $33 million in guarantees.

Per Albert Breer, the Vikigns sweetened their offer for Barr on Monday night.

At $13.5 million, that would make Barr the eighth-highest paid linebacker in 2019.

Prior to this deal, Barr has made $25 million throughout his career per Spotrac.

The Vikings were projected to have about $6.96 million after signing defensive tackle Shamar Stephen, so the team will have to get creative on how to open up cap space. That could mean trading cornerback Trae Waynes, or restructuring the deals of tight end Kyle Rudolph and/or defensive end Everson Griffen.
