Details on Michael Pittman Jr.’s rookie contract with the Colts

The Indianapolis Colts officially have all of their selections from the 2020 NFL Draft under contract for the next four seasons and one of the recent signings was wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. out of USC.

The No. 34 overall pick in the draft, Pittman Jr. was the Colts’ first selection of the event. He signed a four-year deal worth $8.162 million, including $6.625 million guaranteed. Per Over The Cap, here’s how the contract breaks down.

Pittman Jr. should be able to make an impact right away in the wide receiver room. The opportunity is there for him to grab hold of the WR2 role opposite T.Y. Hilton. Not having an offseason to work with the team makes it difficult, but he has the talent to do it.

The Colts have big plans for Pittman Jr. both now and in the future. With Hilton’s contract expiring, Pittman Jr. will be groomed to be the WR1 when the former leaves—whether that be 2021 or a few more years down the line.

Regardless, the Colts got one of their top-graded prospects under contract for the next four years and it will be interesting to see how quickly he can get acclimated to life in the NFL.
