On Saturday, the Chicago Bears renegotiated cornerback Kyle Fuller’s contract and created some salary cap space heading into the 2020 offseason.
According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears added two voidable years to Fuller’s contract. That means if Fuller is with the organization beyond 2021, it won’t be with the terms of his current deal.
Fuller was set to earn $13 million in 2020 with a salary cap hit of $17.5 million. Now, he’ll have a base salary of $4.5 million for 2020, which lowers his salary cap hit to $11.5 million. That’ll create $6 million in cap savings for the upcoming season. Fuller is still due to make $13 million this season.
According to spotrac.com, the Bears have now accumulated roughly $16 million in cap space for the 2020 season. They’ll have plenty of needs to address, as well as in-house signings to get done.
