Details emerge of new plans to let Leeds United fans watch non-televised Premier League matches

Premier League clubs are reportedly set to agree a fresh deal to make all non-televised matches available for fans to watch.

With games still being played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, clubs, the football authorities and broadcasters have had to come up with a solution.

Since the action resumed in June following the shutdown, all matches have been available through either Sky, BT, Amazon Prime or the BBC - as short-term measure.

It had been hoped that fans could return to grounds from this month but plans were shelved following a rise in Covid-19 cases. Leeds United supporters have not been in Elland Road since the 2-0 win over Huddersfield in March.

Now the clubs are poised to agree a fresh compromise when it comes to screening matches at a meeting on Friday, the Mail reports.

It is said that all matches will be available to watch, though those not selected for live TV coverage will have to be accessed via Sky and BT apps on supporters' personal devices.

It’s added that the idea is backed by the "Big Six" teams and has been accepted by the necessary 14-club majority.”

While this has the backing of the clubs, it is likely to infuriate supporters who are already having to splash out hundreds of pounds a year on subscriptions to follow televised matches.
