Details: “chaotic” bar scene allegedly involved two Georgia football players

At 12:50 A.M. on Sunday morning, an off-duty Athens-Clarke County police officer, at the time working at Cloud Bar in downtown Athens, called for assistance upon learning of a fight taking place between customers and bar employees.

Two of the customers allegedly involved in the skirmish were Georgia football players Tyler Simmons and Tyrique Stevenson, according to a statement released by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

As a result of the incident, Simmons – a senior receiver – and Stevenson – a freshman defensive back – were both charged with disorderly conduct.

At the time, it is still an ongoing investigation as the police continue to work to learn who was involved in the “chaotic scene.”

As the statement read, multiple officers flooded the scene with “numerous bar patrons spilling out onto the sidewalk and street.”

Upon interviewing witnesses, the police department concluded that Stevenson and Simmons were allegedly involved in the fight with the bar’s employees. Cloud did not press charges against the two football players.

Athens-Clarke County police charged them both with disorderly conduct and they were transported to jail. On the ACCPD website, Stevenson is listed as being booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail at 2:42 a.m. on Sunday and released at 3:26 a.m. on $1,000 bond.

Simmons, however, was not booked into jail. After arriving, he complained of an injury requiring him to be sent to a local hospital for treatment.

Stevenson enrolled early in January, coming to UGA as a 4-star cornerback (No. 37 overall player) out of Miami.

Simmons, a senior receiver, had a nice junior year, gaining 138 passing yards and 131 rushing yards with four total touchdowns.
