Details have been announced for Southport’s Christmas Switch On event this November.
Southport BID has revealed Peter Andre will headline the town’s Christmas lights switch on next month, along with Wet Wet Wet singer Kevin Simm and 80s Liverpool legend Sonia.
The switch on event is set to take place on Sunday, November 17, with a whole day of entertainment planned for visitors.
Throughout the day there will be fairground rides and street performances for families, including children’s entertainment company Starkidz, CBeebies presenter Sid and shows from local pantos.
The main show, hosted by TV presenter and former Heart Breakfast DJ Joanel, will begin at 4pm.
Susannah Porter, Southport BID’s interim chairman, said: “The last two years have seen crowds in excess of 6,000 for the main event making us one of the biggest switch on events in the region.
“We have had some great acts and we are excited to have Peter Andre coming to Southport this year, our biggest name to date.
“There is a full day of entertainment planned so we hope families will make a full day of it and spend time in the town centre enjoying the atmosphere”.
The switch on will reveal Southport BID’s new lighting scheme for 2019, along with the spectacular light show tree.
