Detached house in a Greater Manchester town with front and back garden priced at just £30k

A detached house has come on the market in Greater Manchester at a price that is miles cheaper than any other property of this type. The two-bed home is up for sale in the town of Atherton in Wigan, which is the region's cheapest borough, and has a guide price of just £30,000.

Typically detached homes in the town sell for an average price of £348,317, therefore this is a bargain not to be missed. But any interested buyers must be prepared to get their hands dirty as this property is not for the faint hearted.

Just a quick glance at the listing on Zoopla show that the house is in a fairly run down state therefore the new owner would need to be willing to take on a big renovation project to turn it into a habitable home.

The property on Smiths Place is currently vacant and according to Zoopla, it was last sold in May 2007 for £72,000.

Currently most rooms have been taken back to bricks and plaster, with some rubble that remains that in the bathroom, however the style and size of the house has potential for those wanting to fix it up and put their own stamp on it.

Currently the home has a kitchen, dining room, living room and toilet on the ground floor, and upstairs there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Outside the property also boasts a front garden area as well as a garden to the rear.

The property is being sold at an online auction as lot 134 on Wednesday, February 15, therefore anyone interested should register to bid now.

The Zoopla listing, which is being marketed by McHugh & Co, reads: "A detached house requiring modernisation with accommodation arranged on two floors.

"Situated off High Street, close to local shopping/travelling facilities including Atherton Train Station. Central Park is also nearby.

"Leasehold for a term of 800 years from 13th June 1952 (thus having approximately 729 years unexpired) at a ground rent of £4 per annum."

The house can be inspected by arranging with the auctioneer and the completion date is advertised as six weeks or earlier.
