Destiny 3 in early development according to leaks, potential Destiny 2 Classic on the way

Destiny 3 has been one of the most talked-about topics in the community, with many agreeing it’s the only way to keep the franchise going. While so far it’s been almost certain that a sequel won’t happen, new leaks suggest otherwise, alongside rumors of a Destiny 2 Classic game of sorts.

On Nov. 26, a user by the name Colony Deaks on X, who previously shared accurate Destiny leaks, posted that Destiny 3 is in extremely early development. The leaker added that they had had the information for a few weeks and wanted to wait for the right moment to talk about it, promising more information in the coming months.

“Yes, Destiny 3 is in extremely early development. Some of you may have seen a tweet early this afternoon that mentioned that. We have been sitting on the info for a few weeks now and wanted to wait to talk about this seeing as it is in such an early state, and it just sucks to see others post about it carelessly for free internet points. We plan to share more info in the coming months as we wait on the larger scale things to develop and take shape. Sit tight,” the post wrote.

With The Fate Saga going for another few years inside of Destiny 2, the leaker suggested that we might see the next game in about five years. This also means that Destiny 2 might get one or two “dead years,” as Bungie shifts its focus to Destiny 3.

Apart from the next game, there have also been rumors of a Destiny 2 Classic game. Colony Deaks said that they’re currently talking about plans to share all the information regarding it. “We have A LOT there and want to make sure its all good,” they posted.

It’s unclear what the Destiny Classic game might look like. One of the things that would be great to see is the return of the vaulted campaigns, including the Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken, alongside some of the raids and seasonal activities.

As always with the leaks, take it with a grain of salt, as no official information has been shared by Bungie. However, with Bungie taking additional time to work on the long-term strategy for the future of Destiny and deliver a multi-year roadmap, these rumors become just a little more believable.
