Destiny 2 Guardian Games Facing Technical Challenges And Confusion

Loot exploit allowed instant completion of Lost Sectors.

Destiny 2 recently launched the latest edition of Guardian Games, a class-based competition featuring Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks. While the event introduced new weapons and a hoverboard, some issues have arisen as the event progresses.

One notable incident involved a brief period of unlimited loot, allowing players to instantly complete Master or Legend Lost Sectors. However, this feature was swiftly disabled by Bungie, causing some players to miss out on the opportunity.

Another problem emerged with class matchmaking, leading to Mongoose errors in Destiny 2. As a solution, Bungie opted to disable class-based matchmaking for Crucible and Gambit activities for the remainder of Guardian Games. This decision effectively eliminated the class competition aspect from two-thirds of the ritual activities.

Additionally, the new Focused Activity UI introduced confusion among players. The system required players to engage in specific activities for a limited time to determine the leading class. However, the UI design made it challenging for players to locate and understand these focused activities, potentially causing them to miss out on rewards.

Regarding the Trials Card system, a new 'Passage of Persistence' was introduced alongside Guardian Games. Players discovered that losing a game with zero wins at the start of the card prevented them from obtaining an Adept weapon, even after achieving seven wins. This mechanic, while not labeled as a bug, caused frustration among players who invested significant time into the Trials Card.

Overall, while the addition of Skimmers brought a new dynamic to gameplay, concerns have been raised about potential issues with encounter design and content skipping. Despite these long-term considerations, addressing the priority issues related to Guardian Games remains crucial for enhancing the player experience.
