Report: Despite rumors, Redskins ‘not actively chasing’ Josh Rosen

The Washington Redskins have been the most commonly connected team as a trade partner for the Arizona Cardinals in a potential deal for quarterback Josh Rosen. However, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, they aren’t actively trying to trade for the No. 10 overall pick in 2018.

Garafolo said on the “Around the NFL” Twitter show that Washington is “not actively chasing” Rosen. They have begun to focus in on the quarterbacks in the draft.

By all reports, the Cardinals have not told teams Rosen is available for trade, despite fielding calls from other teams. They are also expected to make Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray the first overall pick in the 2019 draft, which would make Rosen expendable.

This all seems like a game of cat-and-mouse in which the Cardinals are waiting for a team to simply pony up a first-round pick, while the Redskins, who have the No. 15 overall pick in the draft, might simply trying to downplay their interest to keep the potential cost down. They are now hosting some of the top QB prospects in the draft.

Could this seeming loss of interest change the Cardinals’ plans? Will they still take Murray first overall if they don’t have a deal in place for Rosen? Will they try and deal Rosen without actually shopping him?

The next two weeks leading up to the draft will be telling.
