Despite rumors, Cardinals ranked only as 20th-best landing spot for Kyler Murray

Much of the talk about the NFL combine and the NFL draft in general has been about the connection between Oklahoma quarterback prospect Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have the first overall pick in the draft and new head coach Kliff Kingsbury thinks very highly of Murray.

Many already have the Cardinals and Murray lined up as a perfect pair.

However, Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling doe not believe the Cardinals are as perfect a match for Murray as others believe. In his rankings of the best teams for Murray land with, the Cardinals are ranked only 20th.

Why aren’t the Cardinals near the bottom of this list with the rest of the teams that took quarterbacks in the first round just a year ago? Because Murray would be such a good fit with new coach Kliff Kingsbury that I wouldn’t put it past Arizona to shop Josh Rosen and make the Heisman Trophy winner the No. 1 overall pick. Is it crazy? Absolutely. But man, it would be fun to watch.

What team is the best match for Murray? It is the Saints, who have all those offensive weapons and a coach that already maximizes the talents of an undersized quarterback.

While the Saints are a highly unlikely spot, maybe the Cardinals aren’t as ideal a team for Murray than everyone believes.
