Despite Josh Jacobs being clearcut favorite Kyler Murray named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

I am utterly stunned. Just floored. How in the world did Kyler Murray win Offensive Rookie of the Year over Josh Jacobs? I mean, this one seemed like a slam dunk. i nearly pre-wrote the article for *when* Jacobs took home the award.

Jacobs led all rookie running backs by a comfortable margin with 1150 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns in 13 games. he played more than half of those with a broken shoulder.

Murray had a below average season, throwing for 3722 yards, 20 TDs and 12 interceptions. He added 544 yards rushing and 4 touchdown. And the Cardinals went 5-10-1 on the season.

Recent odds had Jacobs leading the way with -100 odds and a 74% probability. Murray was next at +100 followed by AJ Brown at +900. And yet, not only did Murray “win” the award, he did it by a comfortable margin of 26.5 votes for Murray to 13 for Jacobs. Titans receiver AJ Brown came in third in the voting with 9 votes.

I guess even Vegas couldn’t predict how illogical the voters could be.
