Despite good news, Adam Trautman to receive further look at injured foot

Some of the air was taken out of the New Orleans Saints’ preseason win over the Jacksonville Jaguars by their loss of starting tight end Adam Trautman, who left the game on a medical cart early on after being attended to by team training staff. It was unclear if Trautman was receiving attention on his left leg or ankle, but now we know more.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Trautman injured his foot, and while he received good news initially from on-site X-rays he will receive an MRI on Tuesday to identify what’s causing him “mild pain.”

So it could be worse. The fact that Trautman was able to move around under his own power — until the trainers gave him a lift on the cart to the locker room — suggests he avoided major injury. But this isn’t something we’ll really know much more about until the results from his MRI come in on Tuesday. Stay tuned for updates to this developing story.
