Despite failures, Stefanski’s fourth down decisions lauded as best in the NFL

The Cleveland Browns have been bad when it matters most. Whether it is struggles in the red zone or most fourth quarters, the Browns have not excelled when they need to.

Those problems have been clear on third and fourth downs as well. That was never more evident than in Week 10 against the New England Patriots. The Patriots converted seven of nine third downs while the Browns only converted one of their 11 tries.

Cleveland was successful on two of their four tries on fourth down while the Patriots didn’t have to attempt any, instead scoring on seven of their eight possessions.

The Browns struggles to convert on fourth downs has frustrated fans throughout the season. While the team has struggled to convert, 25th in the league at 40.91% through ten weeks, head coach Kevin Stefanski’s decisions to go for it are considered best in the league:
