Despite BMC notices, road repair work fails to kick off

BHOPAL: Notices issued to road repair contractors by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) have failed to make any impact on the ground.

On Saturday, BMC commissioner K V S Chaudary had issued notices to the agencies over poor quality of road asphaltization in various parts of the city. A day later, in the heart of Bhopal, there were only three labourers by noon. Supervising BMC zone and ward officials were missing in action along with private contractor.

The road along Ibrahimpura was dug up last week. “Logically, infrastructure development should be speeded up on Sunday when this market is closed. Without any rain, potholed roads are already retaining water,” said Sameer, a local businessman in Ibrahimpura.

On Saturday, Chaudary had inspected the ongoing works at Lakherapura, Moti Masjid, Ibrahimpura, Lalghati, Bairagarh, Kamala Park and Hoshangabad road.
