Free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has yet to make his decision on where he will play football in 2019. The former Buccaneer kicked off his free agency tour with the Browns over a week ago and continued with stops in Baltimore and Carolina. Most expect a choice soon.
Brown QB Baker Mayfield is still working on selling the 6-time Pro Bowler on coming to Cleveland.
Mayfield admitted on Saturday at his youth camp he has personally reached out to McCoy, a fellow Oklahoma Sooner, to try and convince him to join forces with the Browns.
“I have been (in contact with McCoy), but we’re going to stick to just camp questions,’’ Mayfield said to reporters during the camp via cleveland.com.
The Browns remain in contention to land McCoy, who is taking his time to decide where he takes his talents next. He has spent his entire career with the Buccaneers but was released earlier this spring when the Bucs could no longer afford his $13 million salary.
