‘Despicable’ thieves caught on CCTV ransack shop as staff left 'heartbroken'

CCTV footage captured the moment a gang of thugs forced entry into a shop and brazenly rifled through the premises.

Officers from Merseyside Police are appealing for anyone with information following a reported robbery at Star Fashions on Broad Lane, Norris Green.

Video, which was posted online shows four offenders frantically ransacking the small business in an incident which occurred at around 4am on Sunday, 18 April.

Merseyside Police confirmed four unknown offenders forced entry to Star Fashions on Broad Lane, before making an untidy search of the premises.

They made off with a quantity of electronic devices including mobile phones and laptops, and clothing stock.

It is believed they headed off on foot in the direction of the loop line.

On a public Facebook post by the Star Fashion high street and boutique clothing shop, staff commented how they were "heartbroken” about what had happened.

The post read: “Heartbroken to say our shop was robbed last night and all of our phones, tablets and laptops were taken.

“All of these items have been reported stolen and are in the process of being blocked and won't be of any use.

“For these scumbags to do something this despicable at a time when small businesses are already struggling is truly devastating to us.”

Detective Inspector Paul Jones of Merseyside Police said: “To target someone’s livelihood in this way is shameful and we are examining CCTV footage, and carrying out witness and forensic enquiries to establish the full circumstances and bring those responsible to justice.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area, or has CCTV or dashcam footage, to please get in touch, as any information could assist our investigation.”

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 21000246821 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
