'Despicable' thief stole Poppy Appeal tin in shop raid

Police want to trace this man following the "despicable" theft of a Poppy Appeal collection and other charity tins.

The heartless thief also made off with food after he struck at the store in Ainsdale .

Merseyside Police said the thief stole two charity tins - one for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal - from the One Stop Shop on Liverpool Road at around 10.30pm on Saturday, October 26.

Today police issued a CCTV still of a man they say may be able to help with their investigation.

Urging people to come forward Sergeant Jenni Bowman said: “Any type of stealing is unacceptable - but to take from a charity is absolutely despicable and I’m confident members of our community will be just as angry."

She added: "If anyone has any information which may help us to identify this individual please come forward. We will act on all information and bring those responsible to justice.”
