Family's relief as teens found safe and well two days after they went missing

Two teenage girls who vanished on Saturday night have been found safe and well, police confirmed this evening.

Ruby Cuskern, 14, and Megan Hardwick, 15, had earlier been urged to let people know they are safe.

The were last seen on a field in the Eastbourne area of the Stockton around 6.15pm Saturday night but they haven’t returned home or made contact with family.

A search was launched for them, but Cleveland Police told Teesside Live that the girls had been found.

Ruby’s auntie Nicola Cuskern, 47, from Stockton, said the search by locals shows the “community spirit” in the town.

She said: "Just absolutely thank you for the bottom of our hearts for everything. The messages and turning out in this weather.”

She said that some worried locals had came along, some with children, who didn’t know the girls.

Nicola added: "I want to thank them all so much for the concern and the support. It shows Teesside people look out for each other."

Police earlier asked parents and carers of those who know Ruby and Megan to speak to their children and ask if they’ve seen them or know where they are.

Ruby is white, with fake tan, 5ft tall with long brown hair and she wears brown framed glasses.
