Desperate search for missing Scots pensioner, 79, last seen stepping onto bus

A desperate search is underway to trace a missing Scots pensioner last seen over two weeks ago.

The last sighting of John Whyte, 79, otherwise known as MAN, was on April 5 in Linton Farm Stanley in Perthshire, when he stepped foot on a bus travelling to Perth. He has not been seen or heard from since.

John was reported missing to police on Thursday, April 20. Officers investigating his disappearance say he lives an outdoor lifestyle and often visits the countryside for several days.

However, concern is growing for his whereabouts. John is described as 5ft 8in, of a very slim build, has blue eyes, short, grey hair and a long, grey beard.

Police say there is no information what he was last known to be wearing. He is very well known in the Perth area and plays the saxophone.

Extensive enquiries are under way to locate John and officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen him or anyone who has any knowledge of his whereabouts.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting 0982 of 20 April, 2023.
