A frantic search is underway for 14-year-old Hanna Balcer, who vanished after leaving her family home in London. She was last seen around 8 pm on April 24 at New Barnet station, and her disappearance has left her family utterly heartbroken and pleading with the public for help.
Her mum, Izabela, issued an emotional appeal, urging anyone who may have seen Hanna to come forward. “Hanna’s family is beside themselves with worry and desperate for information on her whereabouts,” she said. “She is just 14 years old and her father and I are naturally very concerned about her safety”, reported the Sun.
Holding back tears, Izabela added, “We urgently need the public’s help to find her. Please take a look at these images we are making public today and reach out to the police if you have seen Hanna or have information about her whereabouts.”
Directly addressing her daughter, she said, “Hanna, if you’re out there reading this, then please pick up the phone. Your family loves you, and we are anxious to make sure you’re all right.”
Police say Hanna’s disappearance is “completely out of character,” and they’re becoming increasingly worried the longer she remains missing.
Detective Inspector Mark Young from the Met’s North West Missing Persons unit confirmed the situation is being taken very seriously. “Hanna’s disappearance is completely out of character and her family are understandably incredibly concerned,” he said. “Local officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries in an effort to trace her and we are now turning to the public for help.”
He added, “While there is no suggestion she has come to any harm or is in any immediate danger, as time passes we are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare and just want to bring her home safely.”
Hanna is described as around 5ft 5in tall with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a dark tracksuit, black trainers, and carrying a black rucksack.
Police believe she may be moving across different parts of London and say she has known links to Barnet, Shepherd’s Bush and Ladbroke Grove.
The appeal is now being shared widely as officers hope someone will recognise Hanna or come forward with information. Her family, friends, and local community are rallying together, hoping that someone, somewhere knows something that could bring Hanna home.
