Desperate search for missing girl, 14, who vanished 48 hours ago with pet dog

A teenage girl has been missing for over 48 hours sparking a major police search.

Hayley Maddison, 14, has not been seen since lunchtime on Monday and officers are currently trying to trace her.

The girl's pet Shih Tzu, called Maggie, is also believed to be with the youngster.

Hayley is around 5ft 5in tall and was wearing black leggings with white stripes, a black padded coat with fur hood and UGG style boots.

The 14-year-old was last seen in Darlington, Durham, but could possibly be in the Washington and Sunderland areas.

She may also have travelled further afield in the north-east, possibly by train.

The teen has blue eyes and long, fair hair as well as a piercing in one of her nostrils, reports TeessideLive.

Hayley is understood to be carrying a black bin bag full of clothes.

Police said she is also believed to also have links to the Sunderland area.

Anyone with any information of her whereabouts should contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 185 of March 2.
