Desperate Scot rushed to return unwanted Christmas gift at 2am on December 25

One unwanted Christmas present was returned to the shop only two hours after midnight this year.

The frustrated punter was so desperate to get the unwanted item back to the store that they were out at just before 2am on Christmas Day.

The click and collect story in Kircaldy registered the first entry in the UK for the day in the early hours of the morning, as everyone else was in their beds ahead of the big day.

The unwanted parcel was returned to a Collect+ store at 1.53am on December 25, according to PayPoint data. The next return was some six hours later in England, at 8.20am in Crewe.

Throughout December, the Collect+ network managed more than four million parcels as people looked to get presents delivered ahead of Christmas Day.

However, 383 people used the service at their local convenience store to make a return on Christmas Day.

Collect+ is available in 10,000 local convenience stores.
