Desperate rat caught on camera hauling Big Mac burger box across busy road

Rats are know for their desperation when it comes to securing food.

But one rodent took its needs even further and tried to haul a fast food container across a busy road.

The animal was caught on camera dragging the heavy Big Mac burger box over a street in Tankersley, South Yorkshire.

The carton is almost the same size as the rodent, but it still manages to dodge oncoming traffic and squeeze between cars and lorries in the quest for the food inside.

The video has attracted a huge number of views on social networking site TikTok.

The rat is seen with the burger box between its teeth and after it scurries across the busy road it faces a steep kerb which it overcomes and manages to drag what is left of the junk food to a grassy verge at the side of the road.

The Sun reported a lorry driver called Chris, had filmed the video.

And the driver said a crow had already been spotted devouring left-over fries from the MacDonald's container before the rodent arrived to pick up the spoils of what was left.

The short film has already recorded three million views on TikTok.

Steven Atkins78 said: “He’s lovin it lol.”

And eslin1500 joked: “Doesn’t he know McDonald’s deliver.”

The Mirror reported how a rat was spotted inside a McDonald's restaurant in Croydon in September 2018.

Workers then chased the animal out of the restaurant with brooms.

Staff were able to chase the rat out of the restaurant a spokesman for the fast food chain said.

After the footage was shared on social media, pest control experts were called in immediately to ensure no other rodents were in the restaurant.
