Desperate Phil Schofield admits he's at 'breaking point' and has 'had enough'

This Morning host Phillip Schofield revealed he is at "breaking point" now over the restrictions on families seeing each other at Christmas this year.

He said he has "had enough" of the rules that mean many families will not be able to visit each other this festive season, as the new tiers were announced nationwide.

Speaking to guest Lora Evans, he said: "You say everyone's at breaking point.

"I know I am, actually, as a matter of fact.''

He continued: "I am quite happy to speak for a lot of people and say I've had enough, I have had enough.

"I will follow the rules, but I've had enough.

"But as far as everyone's mental health is concerned, taking a little slice of Christmas you say is going to be good for everyone."

"We are following the rules and the bubbles that we are allowed," he clarified.

"Obviously we hope everyone stays safe this Christmas, but inevitably up and down the country, there will be those people who inadvertently come into contact with someone with Covid.

"Essentially, is it worth dying for five days at Christmas?" he asked.

Piers Morgan's wife, journalist Celia Walden, was also on the show (ITV)

Meanwhile, he was joined by Celia Walden, a journalist who is married to Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan.

She revealed the family have big plans for a party next year when the pandemic is over, as they are opting to just spend Christmas together with their nine-year-old daughter Elise.

She explained: "I think it's very sad, I'm sad about all of it.

"It's difficult because Piers has a huge family, then suddenly who do you pick? It's like weddings - and that's going to lead to arguments.

"We thought it would be cleaner, this one year, to do it very, very intimately with just us three."
