Desperate owner searching for pet after dogs thrown from car during crash

A dog owner is desperately searching for her missing pet after it was thrown from her car during a crash.

Amanda Henry, from Kilkerran in South Ayrshire, was driving on the Minishant to Crosshill road on when she was involved in a collison.

At the time of the incident she had three dogs in a secure which was fitted to the interior of the vehicle.

All three dogs ran off after the cage was . Two dogs were found, however Holly, an English Springer Spaniel is still missing.

The 47-year-old vet, who is married to George Henry, was rushed to hospital in Ayr after her car flipped three times and ended up in a field.

Following the collision she required 30 stitches to her head and was treated for a fracture to her spine.

She is now in a back brace for 12 weeks to enable her recovery , which is also hampering her attempts to find Holly.

She said: "Holly is such a huge part of our lives so being without her is the most heartbreaking.

"My husband is ill and because of my injuries I am unable to search for her.

"It's making the recovery even worse as I just want to go out and look for her.

"It's an utter living hell being without her. I am finding it hard to concentrate on my recovery because I am so worried about her and where she might be - I just can't switch off.

"The impact on my friends and family who have been helping to look for Holly has been huge as well."

George was taken unwell a year ago and Amanda says Holly had a special bond with him prior to her going missing.

Amanda, who has been bombarded with messages of support, is now urging people to get in touch if they spot Holly when they are out and about.

Amanda, who can only walk for short periods, has thanked her friends and family who have been out for Holly.

She particularly wanted to thank Crosshill resident Shona Ann McMahon who has gone the extra mile in her attempts to find the old dog.

Amanda said: "I didn’t even know her and she has run from here to Timbuktu helping us, I’d be lost without her.

"It is important that people don't go out looking for her with torches as she could get .

"If you do happen to then give us a call and we can look for her.

"I don't think Holly will be that far from area where the crash happened, so I would urge people to drive slowly around the area she might be."
