Desperate missing dog search ends with heartbreaking news at UK beauty spot

The desperate search to find a missing dog has ended with heartbreaking news.

Loki vanished on Thursday afternoon whilst walking up Glyder Fawr, in Snowdonia, North Wales, with his owners Mikela and Ryan.

A massive community search was launched to find Loki- with sniffer dogs, thermal detection equipment and drones used as part of the search.

Sadly, on Monday night, a mountain leader came across Loki's body after undertaking a difficult climb 800m up Snowdon.

Canine Capture UK subsequently informed Mikela of the sad news and called off the search as soon as possible due to the treacherous environment in which it was taking place, reports North Wales Live.

Ryan confirmed the news last night, saying: "I am Loki’s owner. I was informed by Canine Capture UK that Loki had been found and I took responsibility of informing Mikela in person myself.

"Whilst Mikela was unaware of the situation, we were very aware of the fact that people were still up on that treacherous mountain endangering their own lives looking for Loki and the decision was made to declare the situation to responsibly keep others safe.

"Canine Capture UK along with a mountain leader have spent days up on that mountain and have given us closure, without their assistance my boy may never have been found."

Mikela and Ryan had been searching the area since Thursday, posting Facebook live videos to update people on their progress and to thank people for their assistance.

The pair were joined by groups of 20 and 30 people from the community who walked across Snowdonia in search for the missing dog.

As concerns grew for Loki's safety, a thermal drone was used as part of the search but it did not detect anything. Following this, a mountain leader searched an inaccessible part of the mountain and finally found Loki.
