'Desperate' Leeds United call on former Manchester United star to beat Bristol City - but not all is as it seems

You may have missed it, but Bristol City suffered defeat to Leeds United earlier this week.

The Leeds side looked a little different to the one that beat the Robins last month, however, with a rather slimmed down Alan Brazil netting a hat-trick in the 4-1 win.

It may sound like a fever dream, but it did actually happen.

talkSPORT managed to edit FIFA 20 to include a number of their radio hosts and pundits, and signed them all up for Leeds to face Bristol City in a re-run of the opening game of the season.

The Robins came up against a front line of former Manchester United man Brazil, Darren Bent and Ally McCoist.

Despite the trio's combined age of 153, they appear to have run rings around the Robins, with Brazil netting a hat-trick and former Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara also getting on the scoresheet.

talkSPORT's Sam Matterface commentated on the tie and explained the rather unusual looking Leeds line-up.

"In their desperation to be promoted back to the Premier League after 16 years in exile, Leeds United have raided the piggy bank and managed to bring in a whole new squad of talkSPORT luminaries," he said.

"Starting the season away from home at Bristol City is 11 debuts."

Matterface laced his commentary with a few wry observations on Brazil in particularly following his hat-trick.

He said: "Alan Brazil has gobbled up that chance like a plate of nachos in the sports bar.

"Brazil is finishing off chances like he finishes off bottles of win, one after the other, he's sinking them.

"It's champagne football, just the way he likes it - full of bubbles, fizz and going down a treat."

The virtual Robins did manage to salvage some pride, though, with Korey Smith netting a consolation goal after talkSPORT's Andy Jacobs had spilled Famara Diedhiou's shot.

With the Robins seemingly always destined to lose this fixture, perhaps City fans should be thankful that talkSPORT opted against fielding Bristol Rovers legend and pundit Ian Holloway in the game.
