Desperate Housewives star Orson Bean has died aged 91 after being hit by car.
The actor, who also appeared in Being John Malkovich, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Venice, California. He died at the scene on Friday night.
He was allegedly jaywalking when he was clipped by one car and then struck by another, according to TMZ.com.
Police officers launched an investigation, but foudn not fault was committed by either of the drivers involved in the accident.
TMZ reports cops do not intend to bring charges over the horror smash.
Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Brian Wendling told ABC News: "
"The car coming westbound did not see him and clipped him and he went down.
"A second vehicle was coming up, was distracted by people trying to slow him down and then looked up and then a second traffic collision occurred and that one was fatal."
Bean's career started in the 1950s as a radio star before becoming a regular on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jack Paar.
He hosted a number of game shows throughout the 1960s including To Tell The Truth and Match Game.
His career was thrown into jeopardy when he was placed on the infamous Hollywood blacklist over allegations he was a supporter of the Communist Party.
However, he continued to work, gaining roles in The Twilight Zone and on Broadway.
He received a Tony Award nomination in 1961 for his role in Subways Are For Sleeping, and went on to return to TV.
His roles included parts in soap Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and starred opposite John Goodman in sitcom Normal, Ohio.
In the late 1970s and early '80s, he provided the voice of Bibo Baggins and Frodo in animated adaptations of both The Hobbit and Return of The King.
However, many fans will remember him from his stand-out role as Dr. Lester in 1999's Being John Malkovich.
He also had a large part in Ant and Dec's long-forgotten 2006 movie Alien Autopsy.
Bean went on to land roles in Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Teachers and as Karen McCluskey's love interest in Desperate Housewives.
Bean is survived by his wife of 27 years Alley Mills, and their four children - Susannah, Ezekiel, Michele and Max.
