Desperate appeal to identify body of man found in Firth of Forth after searches 'draw blank'

Police have issued another desperate appeal in a bid to identify the body of a man who was found in the Firth of Forth.

The body was found near Culross on Wednesday 5 August, with the death being treated as unexplained.

The man remains unidentified and police have released a photo of his t-shirt in an attempt to generate leads.

Fife officers are said to have checked "all" missing person reports and shared details with police forces across the country but have "drawn a blank".

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward so that they may trace any family or friends.

Detective Inspector Karen Muirhead at Dunfermline CID said: “The man is described as being white, about 5’10” tall, aged between 40 years and 60 years, and has dark hair which was beginning to go grey.

"When found, he was wearing black coloured Nike make trainers, black coloured ¾ length Lonsdale make jogging bottoms, a black coloured Lonsdale make hooded top and a khaki green coloured Primark make t-shirt with DOWNTOWN and the number 1989 on it, with a skyline image.

"We have checked all our missing person reports and circulated the details across other police forces nationally, however this has drawn a blank so far.

"I would appeal to anyone who may recognise this description, or who may know of someone who fits this description and who may not have been seen for a while to get in touch with us through the 101 number.

"Callers should quote the reference number 0602 of 5 August 2020.

"It is important to us that we trace family members and haver this man returned to his family as soon as possible.

"It is sad that so far we have not been able to make contact with any family or friends of the dead man to let them know what has happened to him.”
