Desperado Darlings by Sam Llewellyn – review

Sam Llewellyn, Desperado Darlings

OK, before we start I'd better confess that I haven't actually read the previous books in the series before this one (Little Darlings and Bad, Bad Darlings), but if you haven't either I would still recommend it.

So, putting all that behind us, Desperado Darlings is about a family, but mostly their three children: Primrose (the cook), Cassian (the engineer), and Daisy (the teenager and leader of the group) Darling. One of the things that make me laugh is that their mother (aka The Captain) is of course the captain of a beautiful luxury yacht while their father (Papa Darling) scrubs the lavatories. The other is the chief (HRH Crown Prince Beowulf of Iceland (deposed)), ah, the crazy chief, who hates: EVERYVUN. EVERYVUN. EVERYVUN. OR MAYBE NOT.

Alright then, let's get to business; here's what I think of it. It is a definite five star, and I think that Nanny McPhee is loosely based on it. This is an instant recommendation for people who enjoy humour, things that aren't yet possible in real life, books about people and the slightest bit more than the unnoticeable bit of gore – really every book has it! It would go in the 8-12 category, but everyone can enjoy it if they think sideways.

Thanks for reading, fellow bookworms! (and by that I do not mean the type that munch through books).
