Ange Postecoglou takes charge of Celtic for the first time on Wednesday as his pre-season begins with a game against Sheffield Wednesday.
However, with the clock ticking until the Champions League opener against FC Midtjylland which is less than a fortnight away, Parkhead punters are issuing concerns.
Postecoglou has a short space of time to get bodies in and out and it’s not just their own fans who have a view on the situation.
Gordon Ferguson, Kilwinning, said: “As Celtic set off for their training camp, it’s obvious Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer don’t want to be there. Nobody wants to pay any money for Olivier Ntcham and they have to also deal with Boli Bolingoli returning.
“And John Hughes is right. Leigh Griffiths isn’t the answer. It’s a Wizard Celtic needs right now and not a manager. Maybe Graham Potter should have been their first choice.”
Joe Smith, Coleraine, added: “Griffiths is only being offered a deal because they can’t afford to get anyone else in, even Aaron Hickey has said no thanks.”
David Bryce, Troon, continued: “Celtic’s transfer dealings thus far have been awful. We are woefully unprepared for a European tie that will shape our season.
“Ange has the right ideas. However he will receive no backing from a board who have no ambition whatsoever. Our loyal support is being shortchanged yet again. Rangers will blow us out of the water yet again.”
Pat Muldoon, Ruchazie, said: “Celtic really need to get shifting. I know it's not easy at this time of the summer with a lot of the clubs not really getting into doing their business yet, but the squad is miles short and the European opener is just days away.”
Rangers began their pre-season with a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle on Monday night and supporters seem happy enough with what is going on at Ibrox as they build up for the start of competitive action.
Roddy McQueen, Kilsyth, said: “ Steven Gerrard just needs to tweak. John Lundstram looks a good signing, but it does make me concerned that a bid is going to be accepted for Glen Kamara.”
England’s Euro semi-final against Denmark is huge news, but Alan Lough, Dunbar, has not been impressed with some of the coverage of the tournament which has filled TV screens in Scotland.
He said: “In reply to John Moore from East Kilbride , there is a reason why we make remarks about the coverage of the Euros. We have the BBC, Sky News and Sports and STV and, since the Euros began, there has been saturated coverage of in-ger-lund, in-ger-lund, in-ger-lund and then more in-ger-lund.
“I gave up with the pre-match build up to any match even when in-ger-lund aren’t playing because all they want to talk about is in-ger-lund. It's sickening, jingoistic and hysterical. We want fair and balanced coverage of all countries.”
However, William Colquhoun, Ardrossan, said: “I have got to be honest and say that I hope England get a result against Denmark and make their way to the Final.
“I have liked the way that Gareth Southgate and his players have conducted themselves and played through the tournament. They were complimentary to Scotland after we played against them and it’s not their fault the media down there are obsessed pains.”
