Express Newspapers has confirmed that it is to build a new printing plant rather than upgrade its existing one at West Ferry in London's Docklands.
The company, owned by Richard Desmond, is reported to be considering a site to the north of London and close to the M1/M25 corridor.
It was announced earlier this year that the group would be investing £100m in new presses from KBA, having ordered 22 KBA Commander CT 4/2 compact towers along with mailroom and publishing equipment from Ferag.
There are also plans for additional printing towers, reel stands and heatset dryers at a later stage, turning the plant into a heatset/coldset hybrid.
