Desmond Howard responds to criticism of his jab at Ohio State during Heisman ceremony

In case you missed the Heisman ceremony Saturday night, you missed more than a bronze statue being handed out. While that should have been the talk of the night, things got a little awkward with former Michigan wide receiver and ESPN analyst Desmond Howard taking a moment to dunk on Ohio State.

With Aidan Hutchinson expressing pride for coming back for another year and making good on beating Ohio State and taking home a Big Ten championship, Howard threw an awkward barb at OSU. He basically said that it was good Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett was between Stroud and Hutchinson rather than his offensive line.

It did not go over well. Howard has since gotten a ton of criticism for the awkwardness and low blow during the Heisman ceremony. Depending on the colors of clothes you own, you may or may not believe the comment crossed the line, but that didn’t stop the sharp reaction from Buckeye Nation, and others.

Howard did not let it go quietly into the night either, instead reacting on Twitter and defending himself. First, there was the non-apology that criticized Ohio State fans for getting on him for the low blow during a Heisman ceremony.

Howard wasn’t done though. He then responded to a fan that got on him for providing bulletin board material for Ohio State to use next year.

Howard then had another tweet later in the night after there’s no doubt continued to get a landslide of criticism as the night went on.

There has been more since then, notably a spat with Zach Smith, but that’s an area we’ll let you take a gander at on your own.
