Northern & Shell, the publishing company owned by Richard Desmond, has discovered the internet. He has just announced that he will invest heavily in the expansion of the Daily Express and Daily Star websites in an attempt to take on his rivals. Is this the same visionary who showed such foresight in 2000 that he closed the group's four websites, with a loss of 40 jobs, because they supposedly cost £8m a year and only brought in revenue of £240,000?
