Designerwear sales soar by over 100% as online retailer reports record year

A North West-based online fashion retailer has reported sales soared by over 100% during the pandemic.

Designerwear said it has "continued to prosper despite Covid", delivering record sales over the course of the year, securing profits of around £600,000 in the past six months.

Sales were up by 108% in the past 12 months, and in December, the total number of sales matched what the firm had done in the whole of last year.

Liverpool-based Designerwear said it now has "ambitious plans" for future growth.

It has recently invested and bolstered its team in order to cope with the rise in demand and to facilitate plans for expansion.

Since January, it has also taken on 18 additional warehouse staff members.

Managing director Ben Wallington said: “It has been a tough year for many businesses within the industry, but we are thrilled to be surfacing from the pandemic in a stronger position than ever before.

“Thanks to our aggressive recruitment drive and investment in additional resources and external support, we are pleased to announce our record year of sales.”

The retailer specialises in designer menswear and children’s wear, with a customer base in cities including London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester.

Designerwear works closely with a host of brands including Hugo Boss, Mallet, Emporio Armani and Moose Knuckles.

As part of its ongoing plans for expansion and recent recruitment drive, the online retailer is hoping to secure partnerships with range of "additional high-end brands".

The firm has also begun work with Essential Studio - a Liverpool-based content marketing agency.

Mr Wallington added: “We have been fortunate to recruit a new head of buying, who is very well renowned in the industry, and we are confident that he will make an invaluable addition to the team, thanks to his expertise and wealth of connections.

“Thanks to our budding partnerships and wave of recent hires, we are confident that business will continue to surge.

“We are hoping to exceed our growth targets this year once again and we are excited about what’s to come.”
