Designers inspired by goth icon Wednesday Adams at Brown Thomas' AW19 fashion show

Goth icon Wednesday Addams is one of next season’s unexpected fashion stars as designers have indulged their kooky sides for AW19.

Luxury Irish fashion store Brown Thomas yesterday launched its new season collection with a stunning show in Trinity College Dublin.

The new collection boasts pieces hot off the AW19 catwalks where designers explored romantic, vibrant and dark, gothic themes.

“Autumn Winter 2019 is a season filled with diversity and newness across all the trends,” Brown Thomas Fashion Director, Shelly Corkery told the Irish Mirror.

“It’s an exciting season for its new play on maximalism and minimalism.

"Designers celebrate femininity and showcase bright pops of colour, fresh updates to tailoring and a nod to the 1970s.”

Grunge is back for this season in the trend Tough Love where femininity is taken into tougher realms with hardware finishes and leathers, as seen at Bottega Veneta, Dior and Alexander McQueen.

Daylight Disco vibes are present at new brands Paco Rabanne and 16 Arlington where models paraded fun partywear in sequin encrusted dresses and embellished skirts.

Dries Van Noten paired a statement-making sequin top with grey tailored trousers while at Givenchy, sequin detailing was added to the classic black tailored suit.

Meanwhile, paired back silhouettes in minimal earthy tones of beige, cream and black are seen across the collections, most predominately at Loewe and Jil Sander.

From romantic florals to placement prints, garden blooms also make a strong appearance in La Vie En Rose with fluorescent-flower prints showcased in a myriad of shades, as seen at Richard Quinn.

Dries Van Noten and Valentino displayed pretty detailing of ruched satins and romantic florals on exaggerated silhouettes.

Elsewhere, designers also take inspiration from the 1970s for AW19 with the So Bourgeois theme.

Feminine blazers with oversized shoulders, opulent pussy bow silk blouses and colourful skirts donned the runway at Dior and Victoria Beckham.

The suit is still big news for autumn winter where classic tailored suits are nipped in at the waist.

From Prada to Dolce & Gabbana and Victoria Beckham to Paco Rabanne, these designers are all embracing sophisticated tailoring in a palette of checks, black and red.
