Designers Can’t Stop Talking About Jon Bon Jovi’s ‘Old Money’ Kitchen – And How His Glass Cabinets Capture the Next Evolution of Classic Luxury

Jon Bon Jovi.

While kitchen cabinet color often gets the spotlight, Jon Bon Jovi is reminding us that the chosen materials are just as impactful. In his white kitchen, the singer features glass-fronted cabinets, a choice lauded by designers for its 'old money' aesthetic – but their appeal is more than skin deep.

Experts explain that glass kitchen cabinets are both practical and personal, offering a stage for showcasing your favorite possessions and kitchen must-haves. They also align with a (sometimes) controversial decorating philosophy: more is more.

'More is more, seems fitting when discussing those of us who love glass front cabinets,' comments Cyndy Cantley of Cantley & Company.

Jon Bon Jovi's old money glass cabinets are neatly organized and somewhat minimal; however, the glass allows some of his crockery to take center stage. 'Not only is it practical to be able to see everything and use it more efficiently, but it is pretty,' Cantley comments.

Shop the look

'People are under the impression that it is hard to keep glass cabinets neat. However, China is typically stacked, and when unloading the dishwasher, it is easy to put things back in their appropriate stack. This also makes it easy for guests to find what they are looking for while they're in your kitchen.'

Bon Jovi has complemented his kitchen cabinets with a white wooden backsplash and a cedar-hued countertop, further emphasizing the room's traditional, old-money aesthetic. The warm, rich tones of the countertop particularly suit the cozy, nesting feel that comes with the fall and winter months, inviting guests in.

However, this feature can easily be adapted for a modern kitchen. The trick is to opt for frosted or ribbed glass doors for a more contemporary, stylish effect.

'The aesthetic of glass fronted cabinets can be both old school with traditional glass mullion or clean and contemporary with frosted or ribbed glass doors,' Cantley says. 'I always encourage my clients to use their China, crystal, and silver daily because seriously, what are we saving it for?'

While Bon Jovi keeps things restrained with a curated collection, you can also use these cabinets to display more personal possessions. For example, you might showcase holiday-specific items – perhaps some ceramic pumpkins for Halloween or a set of seasonal Christmas mugs (like these on Wayfair) – to add a touch of seasonal cheer.

In case you need more convincing, here on the celebrity style team, we have also seen the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Gordon Ramsay exhibit similar-style cabinets, showcasing their favorite pieces to everyone who passes through their kitchen. Will you be next?
