Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is on track to resume throwing next month as he continues his recovery from right shoulder surgery. The surgery cut short Watson's second season with the Browns after just six starts.

Watson, who suffered a fractured bone in his throwing shoulder during a game against the Baltimore Ravens on November 12, has received clearance to begin throwing in a few weeks. General manager Andrew Berry provided an update on Watson's progress at the NFL combine, expressing optimism about the quarterback's recovery.

Berry commended Watson for his dedication to rehab and recovery, noting that the quarterback is in a positive place physically. The Browns are looking forward to having Watson back on the field when spring arrives, with Berry emphasizing the progress Watson has made in his rehabilitation.

The injury occurred during a game in which Watson displayed remarkable resilience, completing all 14 passes in the second half despite playing through a badly sprained ankle. The Browns ultimately secured a 33-31 victory over the Ravens, with Watson's performance standing out despite the injury.

Initially thought to be a minor issue, an MRI revealed that Watson had fractured his glenoid (socket) bone, necessitating surgical intervention. The 28-year-old quarterback, who joined the Browns in a high-profile trade from the Houston Texans in 2022, has made a total of 12 starts for Cleveland.

Following Watson's injury, the Browns signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who stepped in admirably and helped lead the team to the playoffs. Flacco's impressive comeback performance earned him the AP Comeback Player of the Year award at NFL Honors.

The Browns' acquisition of Watson involved a significant investment, with the team parting ways with three first-round draft picks to secure the quarterback's services. Watson's contract with Cleveland includes a fully guaranteed $230 million deal, reflecting the team's commitment to him as a cornerstone of their roster.

As Watson prepares to return to action, the Browns and their fans are eagerly anticipating his comeback and the impact he can make on the team's fortunes in the upcoming season.
