Deshaun Watson: Texans are blessed to have Jack Easterby

In the offseason, the Houston Texans poached Jack Easterby from the New England Patriots and named him executive vice president of team development, a title that means he’ll essentially play a key role in providing leadership to the team.

Deshaun Watson, the presumed offensive leader, is one learning from Easterby, and witnessing his endless energy. As he said on Tuesday, he brings “a lot of energy, A lot.”

Energy isn’t the only thing Easterby brings to the table. He’s an author, a team chaplain at the college and pro level, and was a massive influence over the Patriots.

“He’s been around a lot of winning teams, organizations, a lot of great Hall of Famers in every sport, and just the best athletes in the world,” as Watson reaffirms.

Watson has learned his fair share in his short time with Easterby.

“For me, to be able to grow and learn from a person like him who’s seen so much, it’s a great opportunity,” Watson says. “Not just for me, but for everyone in that locker room and everyone in this organization.”

Easterby has played a guidance role for the team. They are lucky to have him, according to Watson.

“So, we’re blessed to have him on this staff, in that locker room and to kind of guide us in the right direction, because he’s seen a lot,” said Watson.

Easterby helped the Patriots win a Super Bowl, maybe he can do the same thing in Houston.
