Deshaun Watson not among Texans’ top-5 in Madden 2020 ratings

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was not among the top-5 players on the team when EA Sports released its entire player ratings for Madden 2020 Monday.

The Pro Bowl signal caller was given an 82 rating, tied with newly acquired free agent safety Tashaun Gipson and receiver Will Fuller for ninth-best on the team.

Earning the top spot was none other than receiver DeAndre Hopkins with a 99, one of four players in the NFL to earn the rating. Defensive end J.J. Watt came in second with a 97 rating.

Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney, who EA Sports has listed as an outside linebacker, posted a 92 rating with a 95 awareness.

Fourth place went to running back Lamar Miller, who earned his first career Pro Bowl last year, and was given an 85 rating. Fifth-best went to second-year safety Justin Reid with an 84 rating.

Sixth place was a three-way tie between cornerback Johnathan Joseph, middle linebacker Benardrick McKinney, and outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus with each possessing an 83 rating.

Among quarterbacks, Watson was tied with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz for the 12th-best spot in the NFL. Cleveland Browns signal caller Baker Mayfield was ahead of Watson and Wentz with an 83 rating.
