Deshaun Watson credits the Popeyes chicken sandwiches for healing his eye

Deshaun Watson passed for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Texans’ 26-3 over the Jaguars in London on Sunday. But for Watson, it was a game that came a week after he took a foot to his eye while throwing a touchdown.

The remnants of that kick to the face were clearly visible during the game with the Texans quarterback having a freakishly bloodshot eye. It didn’t look great, but Watson did have a secret to the fast recovery:

Popeyes chicken sandwiches. OK, not really, but that was what Watson credited in his postgame interview.

Speaking with NFL Network, Watson said that the spicy chicken sandwiches he got from Popeyes this week (wait, how?!) helped get his eye right.

Popeyes, as you’ve probably heard, re-released its wildly popular chicken sandwiches on Sunday after the fast-food chain was unprepared for the incredible demand from the initial August release.

Watson would have needed to get a hold of these sandwiches before the rest of us, but that’s not too farfetched for a star NFL quarterback.
