JAISALMER: The four-day desert festival, beginning from Sunday at Pokhran, will be formally inaugurated at the Sonar Fort on February 14 followed by a procession at Shaheed Poonam Singh stadium. On the second day, programmes will also be organised at Gadisar Lake and Khuhadi sand dunes.
District collector Pratibha Singh said that the preparations are in the final stage. The golden city and nuclear city are being decorated and colour lighting has been done at the important crossroads. She said that the district is hoping for a tourism boost as tourists in large numbers are expected to attend the festival.
On day one, singers Afsana Khan and Parmis Verma will enthral the audience during a cultural programme. On February 13, a procession will be taken out from Salam Sagar to Government senior secondary school in Pokhran.
