DeSean Jackson told Eagles teammates Redskins would let off the gas

DeSean Jackson played for the Washington Redskins and put that experience to use during his Philapdehia Eagles’ Week 1 win.

According to Jackson himself, he knew the culture in the Redskins locker room would lead them to come out flat after a hot start and enable the Eagles to get back in it.

The comments don’t exactly paint the Redskins in a good light.

“I kept stressing to the boys when we came in the locker room that I have been over there before in that locker room and I know how they are,” Jackson said, according to NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay. “I just stressed to my teammates that I felt that at halftime, they probably thought they had the game sealed and won.”

In hindsight, Jackson sure seemed to be on to something. The Redskins entered halftime up 20-7 and wound up losing 32-27. Jackson put up 154 yards on eight catches and two touchdowns.

There are plenty of reasons things fell apart for the Redskins in the second half. Adjustments, injuries, simple luck — it all plays a part.

But a former Redskins player saying something like this possibly paints a picture as to how opponents view the team. And the only way the Redskins change that perception is winning and not coughing up the lead in such an important NFC East game.
