DeSean Jackson not expected to be 100% when he returns this season

The Philadelphia Eagles are desperately awaiting DeSean Jackson’s return and when the speedster does hit the field again, he’ll be a shell of the dominant performer we saw in week 1. On Friday, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson confirmed what so many have already speculated.

Jackson won’t ready to play on Sunday night against Dallas and even with his extensive rehab efforts, the Eagles star is unlikely to be 100% whenever he returns Les Bowen of the Inquirer reports.

“One of the things I appreciate about DeSean is how hard he’s working to get back. He wants to get back out on the football field in every way possible … With this injury, it’s tricky. He wants to be 100%, we want him to be 100%, so I’m not going to push him. I’m not going to rush him,” Pederson said. “I want him to feel and be the DeSean we know he’s capable of being before we put him back out there.”

Jackson decided against the initial prognosis of hernia surgery, and at this point is hoping to be resume football activities without an intense level of pain. Without him, the Eagles dream of an explosive aerial attack has been reduced to about 8 yards per reception averages and no downfield threat to back opposing defenses up.
