Jan. 11--A 25-year-old Des Plaines man was ordered held on $750,000 bail Saturday after admitting that he touched a girl's genitals several times when she was 11 to 13 years old, according to court documents.
Delio J. Vasquez-Martinez, of the 400 block of West Touhy Avenue, was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse, according to court documents.
From April 2012 to March 2014, Vasquez-Martinez touched the girl's genitals over and under her clothes several times and said it was "because she was attractive, cute and skinny," according to Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Robert Mack.
The girl, a relative of a friend of Vasquez-Martinez, told family members about the incidents in April 2014, and they contacted authorities, according to Mack.
An investigative alert was issued after an interview with the victim, and Vasquez-Martinez was arrested Jan. 8, Mack said.
Mack said Vasquez-Martinez admitted he touched the girl's genitals and told authorities "he was wrong."
Vasquez-Martinez also has a pending disorderly conduct charge in DuPage County in which he is accused of pulling up to a school in October and asking a 13-year-old girl if she wanted a ride, Mack said. The girl refused the ride and told her mother.
Later that month, he allegedly approached the same girl and told her "she didn't have to be afraid of him, that he just wanted to give her a ride," according to Mack.
The girl told her mother, who identified Vasquez-Martinez's vehicle and told police. He was arrested in November and admitted to attempting to give the minor a ride because it was cold outside, according to Mack.
