Derry security alert: Residents asked to leave homes after suspicious object found

Residents have been asked to leave their homes following the discovery of a suspicious object.

Emergency services were alerted to the discovery of a suspicious object in the Clon Elagh area of Derry on Sunday morning, November 7.

Police said residents have been asked to leave their homes and the public are being urged to stay away from the area.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "Police are currently in attendance at the scene of the discovery of a suspicious object in the Clon Elagh area of Derry/Londonderry this morning (Sunday 7 November).

"Residents are being asked to leave their homes while officers examine the object. The public is asked to avoid the area. There are no further details at present."
