Derry's Craft Village is city's hidden gem hosting array of local businesses

Take a look inside Derry's hidden gem, the craft village hosting an array of businesses.

Derry's Craft Village recently benefitted from a Covid-19 Recovery Grant after a joint application was made by businesses within the area.

The Craft Village is integral for the city's local businesses and has become a bustling hub over the years, attracting 70,000 visitors each year.

UV Art's installation of the Factory Girls mural, as well as the multiple cafes and restaurants in the small area expanding to include outdoor seating, means that the Craft Village has seen more footfall than ever.

Here is a quick snapshot of some of the businesses and services contained in the city's Craft Village:

From the entrance on Shipquay St. sits Ivy Gate Coffee, a welcoming local setting. Its flower arch makes it instantly stand out.

Customers can sit inside or outside with their homemade treats and can enjoy the atmosphere of the surrounding shops.

No.19 Craft & Design is perfect for those looking for an unusual gift, a Derry souvenir or something to stand out in their home.

Hosting a collective of Artists and Designers from the North West, No.19 prides itself in selling contemporary crafts and artisan giftware.

A standout local clothing business, HAN* offers unique and comfortable items of clothing that stand out against high-street retailers.

HAN* beanie hats, which come in a multitude of different colours, are often seen as a uniform of Derry natives. The streets of Derry become filled with HAN* heads in the Autumn and Winter months.

Sass & Halo make unique and beautiful crowns and wedding flowers, hand designed and hand crafted in a workshop in the middle of the Craft Village.

Bespoke items can be made for special occasions and many brides have chosen Sass & Halo crowns to add something unique to their big day.

Here you can enjoy freshly baked produce, hot food (vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available) and browse a selection of handmade, local products.

This contemporary art gallery strives to offer art buyers quality and variety within a welcoming space.

It has built up a reputation for showing quality Irish art and ceramics in the city over recent years and is a showcase for standout local artists.

Soda & Starch offers quality food and a warming atmosphere to customers in the heart of the craft village.

With its sheltered seating area, once Covid restrictions have been fully lifted people can choose to sit inside or outside, taking advantage of the space that the Craft Village has to offer.
