Derry police appeal after 'gunshots fired' and windows smashed in early hours

Detectives are appealing to the public for help after gunshots were reportedly fired in Derry in the early hours.

It was around 2am on Thursday, August 12 when a number of "loud bangs" were reportedly heard outside an address in the Ballysally Road area of Coleraine.

After hearing the bangs, the injured party discovered a number of broken windows at the property.

Detective Sergeant Higgins said that, at this stage, it is believed these bangs were gunshots.

D.S. Higgins said: "Thankfully, there were no injuries reported but this was a reckless act and the injured party is understandably shaken by the incident."

Police are now urging anyone with any information that may help with enquiries to get in contact with police on 101 quoting reference 135 of 12/08/21.

Alternatively, you can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form.

You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online.
