Derry legend Paddy Bradley added to Donegal management team

Derry legend Paddy Bradley has been added to the Donegal management team ahead of the new inter-county season.

After a protracted search to find Declan Bonner’s successor, Paddy Carr was named as the new Donegal boss at the end of October with former Armagh star Aidan O’Rourke joining him as coach.

Another Ulster man has now been added to the management set-up with former Derry All Star Bradley unveiled to the squad at their first training session at Convoy earlier this week.

In a statement, the Donegal county board said: “In line with Croke Park guidelines the Donegal Senior team returned to training last week in the Donegal GAA Centre in Convoy.

“It was new manager, Paddy Carr’s, first session with the full squad and in addition to coach Aidan O’Rourke, Derry’s legendary forward Paddy Bradley, a recent addition to the management team, was introduced to the squad.

“The bainisteoir’s full backroom team is 90 per cent complete and an announcement revealing all roles and responsibilities is due within the next 10 days.

“Donegal are expected to start their Allianz league campaign on January 29 and will have a chance to familiarise himself with the squad in the McKenna Cup.”

That League opener will be at home to the All-Ireland champions Kerry with the full fixture list expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

Bradley was in charge of his native Glenullin this season and guided them to Intermediate success in Derry before they lost out to Tyrone side Galbally in the Ulster quarter-final earlier this month.

He was also Derry's U20 manager this season and was a selector for the Antrim seniors back when his father Liam was in charge of the Saffrons.
